Directions: Provided are the transcriptions for eight letters from January, 1864. While reading, think about themes, or ideas, which connect these letters as well as the previous eight letters. Does a letter, for example, talk about camp and family life, battle, soldier friendships, military rank, and camp food? Most of Alonzo's letters usually contain more than one topic.
